Treatment of dry roughage to improve quality and palatability

• Ensure product is stored in a well-ventilated environment.
• Store product out of the sun.
• Do not stack (or store) product against the northern side of a building especially against corrugated iron structures.
• Minimise stock levels to avoid storing product for long periods.
• Ensure the principle of “first-in”, “first-out” is followed.
• Bags that have been lying directly underneath a cover on a truck for more than 24 hours prior to offloading should be packed separately to be used first.
• Store the feed under a cover, in a cool, dry place.
• Liquid product can be stored a maximum of three layers high.
• Store product off the ground on a pallet.
